Patrick David Adams was born June 27, 1953, to Wendell and Irma (Smith) Adams at Hudson, S.D. He attended Finnie Country School through the eighth grade. He then attended West Sioux High School in Hawarden.

He married Janice DeWall in 1973, and to this union they had two daughters, Brandi and Sheena. They lived in Hawarden, and it was at this time Patrick attended Western Iowa Tech and received his chauffeur license. Patrick worked for Heyl Trucking out of Akron. He then went on to become an EMT and volunteered for the Hawarden Ambulance for 13 years. That is where he realized that he wanted to continue his medical career and he went on to be a paramedic. Patrick worked in Cherokee until he moved to Storm Lake, where he worked at Buena Vista Regional Medical Center until his retirement.

Patrick enjoyed spending time with his family, going to concerts and sporting events, especially the Iowa Hawkeyes and Minnesota Vikings, and fishing.

He also completed the Domestic Preparedness Defense Against Weapons of Mass Destruction Responder Awareness Course.

Patrick is survived by his two daughters: Brandi (Adam) Caviness of Ireton; and Sheena Hamman (Preston Martin) of Mission Hill, S.D.; nine grandkids; and one great-grandchild. Also surviving are two brothers: Ron Adams of California; and Steve (Sandra) Adams of South Sioux City, Neb.; sister Kathy Smith of Huron, S.D.; many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Wendell and Irma Adams; sister Barb Schiefen; brother and sister-in-law, Dick and Dawn Adams; and brother-in-law Jerry Smith.
