Molseed, Tarin Gonzalez to present Admiral’s Award

Megan Molseed and Luciano Tarin Gonzalez  will determine the winner of the Admiral’s Award, the best entry in the 2024 Star Spangled Spectacular Big Parade.

The Admirals Award, bestowed by the Storm Lake Times Pilot, is in its 18th year. The winner is presented with an imprinted buoy right before the parade, so look for the winner as the entries go by.   

Judges will keep in mind this year’s theme “Light Up the Sky on the Fourth of July.”

Megan is a reporter/online editor at the Storm Lake Times Pilot. She moved to Fonda last year from eastern Iowa where she worked at a newspaper. “I’m very excited for my first Star Spangled Spectacular,” she said.

Luciano is an artist who intricately painted the lighthouse located at the school administration building, plus the 150th themed lighthouse commissioned by the city. He graduated from Storm Lake High School in 2004.

“I just have a passion for art more than anything,” he said. He works in Cherokee.

The parade begins at 10:30 a.m. July 4.
