Mike Morrow helps unload mortar racks off a trailer onto the jetty. He is the oldest son of the late Mike Morrow who introduced Orren to the job in 1987. The metal tubes and the racks are reused each year.
The crew is moving things into position. Fireworks are toted in the garbage cans. Plastic garbage cans are a good way to store fireworks because they're safe and fireproof.
Orren is working with a fuse. On the right you can see that the fuse is wrapped in paper. This prevents the fuse from burning too fast. In Orren's right hand is the fuse cap, which protects the fuse from sparks or accidental lighting.
