Get in on Community Ed’s Prime Time 2024 before the registration price increase Friday, June 28.

The popular annual event at Storm Lake High School takes place Wednesday, July 31 from 8:30 a.m. to noon.

Prime Time is an enrichment opportunity for people 55 and over, with continental breakfast, breakout sessions and lunch. As in the past, Mayor Mike Porsch will address the group.

A big draw will be the session by Buena Vista Media Professor Jerry Johnson, “The Historic Cobblestone.” Johnson has been compiling memories, stories and historical documentation about the iconic Cobblestone Ballroom, which once hosted lively dances and legendary performances by great musical artists.

You’ll see one of the original Cobblestone Ballroom booths and there’ll be a chance to share your own memories and stories.

Jaymie Bral of Storm Lake Middle School will bring Dory the therapy dog. This dog has been helping local students for six years. You’ll learn how Jaymie’s research and patience made his dream a reality.

On the educational side, Darcy Girres from BVRMC will share information about diabetes. She’ll talk about glucose monitors and insulin pumps, plus insurance coverage options.

Yoga benefits and avoiding scams are among the additional breakout session choices.

Cost is $10 if you register on or before Friday, June 28. Late registration is $15.

Register by mail at: Community Education, PO Box 638, Storm Lake, Iowa, or stop by the office at 930 E. 5th Street, portable #3.

Doors open at 8 a.m. We’ll see you then.
