Pam Kearney

Pamela L. “Pam” Kearney, 54, of Alta passed away Thursday, Sept. 19, 2024, following a lengthy illness at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 27, at 2 p.m. at Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Pastor Kiboko Kiboko will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset View Cemetery at Washta. Visitation with the family present will be held Thursday, Sept. 26, from 5-7 p.m. at Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Online condolences may be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com 

Pam was born Feb. 19, 1970, to Bill and Melva (Waldron) Bainbridge Sr. at Cherokee. She graduated from Alta High School in 1988. She then went to Nettleton Cosmetology School, graduating in 1991. 

Pam was united in marriage to Reuben Kearney on Aug. 4, 2007, at Alta. She worked as a hair dresser in Cherokee and Aurelia. She also worked as a CNA at BV Hospital and Sunset Knoll until she retired due to her health. 

She was a member of Storm Lake United Methodist Church. When she was younger, she was involved in Blue Birds, Girl Scouts and 4-H. 

In her free time, she enjoyed cooking, crafts, gardening and loved her cats.

She was preceded in death by her father Bill Bainbridge Sr., nephew William James Bainbridge, and maternal and paternal grandparents.

Pam is survived by her husband Reuben Kearney of Alta; two step children: Tyson (Anna) Kearney of Le Mars; and Benjamin Kearney of Sibley; one step grandson, Luka Kearney of Sibley; mother Melva Bainbridge of Alta; siblings: Sheila (Tim) Geary of Sioux City, and their children, Brandon (Desiree) Geary, Scott (Olivia) Geary and Brittney (John) Geary; Bill (Carla) Bainbridge Jr. of Early, and their children, Paul (Tiffany) Bainbridge and their children Hazel, Finnlee and Brooklynne Bainbridge; Anthoney (Jen) Bainbridge and their child Ashton Bainbridge; Mary (LeRoy) Barkhurst of Alta; and Bob (Mary) Bainbridge of Albert City, and their son Arthur Bainbridge.
