Monarch tagging at BV County Park

Posted

Join Buena Vista County Naturalist Katie Struss to get up close and personal with monarch butterflies. Everyone will get an opportunity to tag a monarch. Tagging monarchs is part of an ongoing research project with the University of Kansas to track migrating monarchs. We will also discuss the decline of monarch butterflies and what you can do to help!

The monarch tagging program will be held Saturday, Sept. 14, at 2 p.m. We will meet at the north area of Buena Vista County Conservation Park by the prairie area. The north area of the park is located at 359 440th St., Peterson. Registration is required by Friday, Sept. 13, at 4 p.m. Call the conservation office at 712-295-7985 to register.

This program can be canceled due to inclement weather or lack of participants.
