Janis Teague

Janis Audrey (Spooner) Teague, 90, of Topeka, Kan., passed away Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2024.

She was born Oct. 28, 1933, in Storm Lake, the daughter of Floyd and Helen (Matson) Spooner. She was the oldest of seven children. She received a high school diploma in 1951 from Storm Lake. 

Janis was employed by the Manhattan Public Library for 10 years until retiring. Mrs. Teague was a member of the RSVP, of Manhattan, Kan.

Janis married Rolyn Dudley Teague on June 3, 1951, in Storm Lake. Rolyn Dudley Teague preceded her in death on March 3, 2015.

Survivors include a son, Michael D. Teague; daughter Marci J. (Teague) McDaniel; son Mark A. Teague; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father Floyd Spooner and mother Helen Spooner. 

Janis enjoyed supporting the arts and through her active lifestyle she danced, crafted, played and loved music. Janis traveled throughout her lifetime including living in Germany with her military husband and children. Not only did she work in the library, she also very much enjoyed reading!

Janis’s wishes were for cremation. Janis will be laid to rest with her husband at Kansas Veterans Cemetery at Fort Riley in Manhattan, Kan.
