Naturalist Lunch Box and Astronomy Night

Naturalist Lunch Box is held at noon on select Fridays in the summer at South Cove Park. Pack a lunch and join the fun! Naturalist Lunch Box is designed for all ages.

Friday, July 12, at 12 p.m. will be the fifth Naturalist Lunchbox program of the year. The topic for this week is birds of prey. The naturalist will discuss the lives of these fascinating birds and bring along a live education raptor too. The naturalist will be releasing a live rehabilitated raptor too!

South Cove Park is located along the south shore of Storm Lake at 125 Stoney Point Road, Storm Lake. Please RSVP by Wednesday, July 10, at 4 p.m. by calling 712-295-7985. This program may be canceled due to lack of participants or inclement weather.

 

Astronomy Night

The Buena Vista County Conservation Board and Sanford Museum are partnering to offer Astronomy Night.  Spend an evening under the moon and stars. The night will begin by identifying the constellations, followed by using telescopes to observe the moon and planets.

The program will be held at Buena Vista County Conservation Park in the South Shelter Area on Friday, July 12, at 9:30 p.m. Refreshments are provided. Feel free to bring a blanket and/or chairs to view the stars. If you plan on attending, please let the naturalist know by Wednesday, July 10, by calling 712-295-7985. Buena Vista County Conservation Park is located at 377 440th St., Peterson.

This program may be canceled due to inclement weather and/or poor sky viewing conditions due to cloud cover.
