DEANNA L. ZUBROD, 84, of Sutherland, Iowa, formerly of rural Cleghorn, passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at Careage Hills Nursing Home, surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 20, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Quimby, Iowa. Pastor Alex Kaldahl will officiate. Burial will be in the Grandview Cemetery at Quimby, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Deanna was born on July 23, 1940 to Louie and Malinda (Hoffman) Jensen at Wahoo, Nebraska. She attended country school then graduated from Albion High School in 1957. She attended college at Comptometer School in Omaha, Nebraska. She married Donald Zubrod on October 10, 1964.
She worked for Napa and Omar Bakery in Omaha, Nebraska. They moved to Cleghorn, Iowa in 1976. In 1989, she began working for Cherokee County Home Health Care and retired in 2006.
She was a member of the Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Quimby, Iowa.
In her free time, she enjoyed baking, gardening, doing crafts, playing cards, quilting, cheering on the Nebraska Cornhuskers, and going to watch the grandkid’s ball games.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Louie and Malinda Jensen, and two sisters, Marlene and Marilyn.
Deanna is survived by her husband Donald of Sutherland, Iowa; three children, Dennis and Nancy Zubrod of Merrill, Iowa, Gary and Deanna Zubrod of Marcus, Iowa, and Kevin and Joyce Zubrod of Sutherland, Iowa; 9 grandchildren Julie (Adam) Roth, Patricia Zubrod, Jonathan Zubrod, Jessica (Marissa) Schwartz, Nathan Zubrod, Claire Zubrod, Melinda Zubrod, Hannah Zubrod, and Samantha Zubrod; 2 great grandchildren, Elijah and Westyn Roth; brother-in-law Ken Anderson of Omaha, Nebraska.
