Fishing derby winners

The annual Buena Vista County Conservation Fishing Derby was held on Saturday, June 8. Thank you to all who came out to enjoy the day at Gabrielson Park. Fourteen youth anglers competed in the derby. Prizes were awarded for the largest single fish and the heaviest stringer of three fish.

The winner in the six to 10 age category was Deliah Luce with a stringer of blue gill. The winners in the 11-15 category were Jaden Blomme with his catch of a rainbow trout and Trevor Hanson for his stringer of blue gill. Each was awarded a new rod and reel.

Additionally, all derby participants received a bait and tackle kit. Buena Vista County Conservation thanks Barbara Erickson for the donation she made in honor of the late Erik Erickson. This donation provided the new tackle and new fishing poles for the event.
