Beavers score 57 points in second half
Buena Vista overcame a poor first half offensively by exploding for 57 second-half points as the Beavers improved to 5-0 with a 93-59 win over Crown College on Wednesday night at Siebens Fieldhouse.

Newell-Fonda had four players represented on the 8-Man District 1 football teams, it was released.
Selected to the first team from the Mustangs were Aden Mahler and Treyton Mahler. Trey Jungers made the second team while Gabe Sievers was chosen to the honorable mention team.

Pairings for the 2019 Storm Lake Times/Hy-Noon Kiwanis Basketball Jamborees have been announced. The girls jamboree will be held this Saturday at Storm Lake High School. Newell-Fonda and OA-BCIG will tip things off at 5:45 p.m. South Central Calhoun and Cherokee will meet at 6:30 p.m., followed by Ridge View and Storm Lake St. Mary’s at 7:15 p.m. Storm Lake squares off with Sioux Central at 8 p.m.

Storm Lake Middle School coach Andrew Zinn used is paycheck from running the Community Education youth basketball program to buy shorts for his eighth grade girls basketball team. Players previously wore their own black shorts, but because of Zinn’s generosity, the team now has matching Tornado shorts.
