Bill was born to Gerrie Lamoureaux in Rapid City, S.D., on Feb.18, 1961, and was baptized into the Catholic Church. He has one brother, Scott Lamoureaux. Bill attended schools in the Sioux City area. He enjoyed staying with his Grandma Jackie in Rapid City throughout his childhood. He enlisted in the Army in 1979. He served at Fort Riley in the 1st infantry division until he was honorably discharged in 1982.
Bill worked roofing Pizza Huts out of the quad cities for many years. He moved to the Galva area for work. He met the love of his life, Tangy, and it was love at first sight. He told his friend, “I’m going to marry that girl someday.” Bill and Tangy were married in Storm Lake June 30, 2006. Bill gained two kids, Mandy Harder and Kelly Rydberg. Bill’s grandkids brought so much joy to him. He looked forward to all the holidays, having Easter egg hunts, playing ball in the backyard, watching family open gifts at Christmas and just spending time together.
In 2000, Bill started working at Friesen USA/Meridian in Storm Lake. In 2008, he switched to Harvest International and worked there until his passing. Bill worked many jobs there and took such pride in being their Quality Control Manager. Nothing left the plant until Bill triple checked it to be perfect. Bill also enjoyed going on long road trips with David for work.
Bill and Tangy enjoyed boating, camping, going to the casino (with Booma) and hanging out with friends. He would look forward to his annual hunting ventures with Brian “Hairball.” Bill considered all friends as family and was well known for his quote “Peace, Love always in life.” At the campgrounds, Bill loved to show all the kids his magic tricks which gained him his name, “Magic Bill.”
Bill and Tangy traveled many times to visit his Uncle Dan at Port Aransas, Texas, Uncle Ron in Denver, Colo., and his grandmother in Rapids City. Bill loved hanging out at the beach and enjoyed the mountain scenery. He adored his grandmother and was very proud of his Indian heritage. His family history dates back to James “Scotty” Philip, Bill’s great-great grandfather. Scotty raised buffalo in Fort Pierre, S.D.
