Stephanie D. Quick (nee Westrum), 90, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away at Wesley on Grand in Des Moines after a life well-lived on Thursday, Dec. 19, 2024.

Stephanie grew up in Stratford, where she met her husband, Stan, in the first grade. She was a graduate of Simpson College and a proud Tri Delta and was thrilled to reconnect with sisters in Sun City West, Ariz., later in life. Stephanie taught high school home economics in Iowa City while Stan completed his dental degree. After two years in California, the couple returned to Iowa and made a home in Storm Lake. Steph and Stan loved this community and were proud of the diversity it embraced.

Stephanie was a competitive bridge player, talented quilter and a wonderful and kind friend to many. Her engagement with the AFS chapter in Storm Lake in the 1970s brought a global perspective to her family, and the Quicks shared their home with three AFS exchange students, who grew through their experience and still feel part of the family. Steph and Stan’s relationship was a model to learn from.

She was preceded in death by her husband Stanley; parents, Harold and Cleo; brother Dick; and sister Sylvia.

She is survived by two brothers, Noel and Tim; children, Karin (Jeff) and Thomas (Judy); grandchildren, Madeline (Grant) and Niles (Morgan); and great-granddaughter Annie.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 27, at Wesley on Grand (Auditorium), 3520 Grand Ave., Des Moines, with visitation at 10 a.m. Lunch and story-sharing to follow the service.
