Neal Wurth

Neal Jonathon Wurth, 44, of Alta passed away peacefully Aug. 27, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday Sept. 3, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen, with Rev. Timothy Pick officiating, Rev. Dan Rupp concelebrating and Deacon Doug Heeren assisting. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Remsen. Visitation with family present will be 4-7 p.m. on Monday and a rosary and vigil prayer service at 5 p.m., all at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Visitation will resume from 9:30-10:15 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Services have been entrusted to Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen.

Neal was born Nov. 4, 1979, to Chester and Mary Alice (Snyder) Wurth in Orange City.  Neal was raised on the family farm south of Remsen and attended Remsen-Union High School, graduating in 1998.

Neal went to Iowa Lakes Community College for two years and received his degree in farm  mechanics. He moved to Kingsley and worked for Titan Machinery for 18 years, before moving to Alta in 2018, and worked for Alta Implement.

Neal’s greatest joy in life were his children. If he wasn’t coaching them in one of their sports, he was taking them camping, to the races or some other activity.  When he wasn’t with his kids, you could find him riding his motorcycle or working on the family farm turning wrenches for Wurth Repair, the business he had with his brother Kyle, or helping his dad with the farming.

Neal leaves behind his children Natalie and Conor, both of Alta; his parents, Chester and Mary Alice Wurth of Remsen; three siblings: Chad (Angela) Wurth of Le Mars; Michelle (Robert) Held of Lee’s Summit, Mo.; Kyle (Melissa) Wurth of Hinton; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Neal was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Paschal and Mathilda Wurth of Remsen; maternal grandparents, Robert and Mary Jane Snyder of Marcus; a brother, Ernest in infancy; and several aunts and uncles.

Casket bearers will be Korry Bowman, Chris Hagan, Dusty Heitmann, Morgan Van Houten, Jeff Barto, Todd Nothem.

Honorary bearers will be Caden Wurth, Alexa Wurth, Blake Wurth, Travis Held, Will Held, Michael Held, Bradley Held, Adalyn Wurth, Emerson Wurth, Isabel Wurth.
