Nancy Kay Kindwall was born Jan. 23, 1943, to Raymond “Barney” Kindwall and Helen (Jensen) Kindwall in Sioux City. She was baptized into her Christian faith in the Lutheran Church. In her first year of life, she fought a courageous battle with polio, which later left her with a struggle to walk and two different sizes of feet that caused her parents to always purchase two pairs of shoes to fit. Despite the setbacks from her illness, her parents always encouraged her to accomplish her dreams. Nancy went on to high school where she played the bass drum and met her high school sweetheart, Marlin. She graduated from Alta High School in 1961. She later went on to national business training and graduated with her business degree. She was united in marriage to Marlin Friedrich Nov. 24, 1962, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Alta. They were later blessed with two children, Julie Rae Friedrich and Todd Marlin Friedrich. They built a beautiful life and home together on their farm west of Alta that has been in the family for 62 years.
Most of all, her heart belonged to her faith in Jesus Christ which is the foundation she raised her family on. Nancy enjoyed celebrating her life with family and friends through Sunday family dinners, church parties, classmate’s birthdays and holidays. She loved to decorate her home inside and out for special events. She also enjoyed reading, painting, gardening, baking and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events. She felt privileged to enjoy the adventures of five cruises to Alaska, Hawaii, Bahamas, the Caribbean Islands twice, and visited numerous United States cities. Nancy will always be remembered for her love and dedication to her family and her zest for life.
She is survived by her beloved husband Marlin Friedrich; children: Julie (Jeff) Schwartz; Todd (Cary) Friedrich; grandchildren: Molly Schwartz, Amy (Rudy) Jacuinde, Ryan (Hillary) Friedrich and Ross Friedrich (Paige Stevenson); great-grandsons: Beckam Jacuinde; Brooks, Dane, Knox and Cole Friedrich; numerous special nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
