Mariam L. Kramer, 85, of Storm Lake died Thursday, Dec. 26, 2024, at Accura HealthCare of Cherokee.
Private family services will be held at a later date. Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
Mariam was born May 23, 1939, in Kossuth County, the daughter of Clarence J. and Margaret (Schaller) Thilges. Mariam attended first through eighth grades at St. Joseph Catholic School in Bode. She graduated from West Bend High School in 1957, and attended Tobin Business College and graduated in May 1958 in Fort Dodge.
She married Robert J. Kramer on Oct. 14, 1961, at St. Peters & Paul Catholic Church in West Bend. To this marriage, one child was born, Lawrence D. “Larry” Kramer, on Nov. 15, 1962. Robert and Mariam have three grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Mariam worked as a waitress at Lakeshore Café, Harbor House and Ken-A-Bob's, all in Storm Lake. After retiring, she enjoyed volunteering at St. Mary's SOS Thrift Store. In her free time, she loved reading, completing crossword puzzles, playing cards, holding babies and going to the casino. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Margaret Thilges; sister Arlene (Donald) Sobolik; brothers, Ronald (Ruth) Thilges and Duane Thilges.
Left to cherish Mariam’s memory include her husband Robert Kramer of Storm Lake; son Lawrence “Larry” (Wendy) Kramer of Grinnell; grandchildren: Ashley (Troy) Beeler, Lindsey (Travis) Eagle and Brian (Maggie) Kramer; great-grandchildren: Addy, Luke, Kendra, Jordan and Tyson Beeler; Joey, Tommy and Mikey Eagle; Camden and Owen Kramer; and sister-in-law, Karen Thilges of Fort Dodge.
