Karna Jackson

Karna Jackson, 79, of Spencer died Jan. 26, 2025, in Webb.

Funeral services will take place Friday, Jan. 31, at 10:30 a.m. at First English Lutheran Church in Spencer. Burial will be in Newell Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, Jan. 30, from 5-7 p.m. at Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake.

Karna was born Oct. 21, 1945, to Henry and Fern (Gebers) Bergmann in Holstein. She attended school in Alta, where she was honored to be Homecoming Queen during her senior year. Karna graduated from Alta High School in 1963.

On Aug. 9, 1964, Karna was united in marriage to Richard Jackson in Alta. They were blessed with three children: Trent, Todd and Tonya.

Karna was a faithful member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Albert City, where she served as a Sunday School teacher for many years. Most recently, she was a member of First English Lutheran Church in Spencer. Karna was also a member of the Eastern Star.

In her free time, she enjoyed cooking and will be remembered for her amazing food. Karna loved socializing with friends and family at the bar where she could be found enjoying her favorite drink, a whiskey and water totty. In her younger years, Karna obtained her pilot license. She enjoyed playing cards and competing in bowling league for many years in Storm Lake. She loved snowmobiling in the winter and riding Harley motorcycles with Richard and Trent in the warmer months. Karna also loved going dancing with Richard at the Lakes. Each year, she looked forward to taking her great-grandchildren trick-or-treating in Spencer on Halloween. More than anything, Karna treasured time with her family and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Left to cherish the memory of Karna include her children: Trent Jackson of Alta; Tonya (Kent) Erickson of Webb; grandchildren: Kole (Anna) Erickson of Holstein; Karissa Erickson of Albert City; Kyrstin (Taylor) Briles of Sioux Rapids; great-grandchildren: Aiden, Koe, Aria, Paisley and Dakotah Erickson; Braelynn Wyse and Kahlins Antes; Teagan Briles; sister-in-law Sondra Setchell; nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Fern Bergmann; husband Richard Jackson in 2019; son Todd Jackson in 1999; brother Larry Bergmann; stepmother Velda Bergmann; parents-in-law, Marion and Virginia Jackson; and brother-in-law Bruce Setchall.
