There will be no services at this time for Jane Harrison, 86, of Arnolds Park.
Jane Sutton Harrison was born and raised in Storm Lake on Sept. 29, 1938, passing peacefully but suddenly Feb. 16, 2025, in Arnolds Park.
Jane was the daughter of Jerry and Evelyn (Sutton) Sullivan. Granddaughter to Hollis Sutton and Viva Sara Elizabeth Odor and to John Sullivan and Ellen O’Boyle. Proud of her Irish heritage while, baptized and raised in the Catholic church, she prayed every day for her family and friends. Always counting her blessings.
Jane graduated from Storm Lake High School. A true Iowan, she loved her Hawkeyes. As a child she would ride her pony, Dusty, to the creek to catch bullheads and was always exploring with her sisters. She loved growing up on the farm, which is still in the family today. Jane loved walking at her home on the lake, feeding and watching the birds on the deck and sitting near the dock enjoying beautiful evening sunsets. Many years were spent on the lake with her beloved husband John.
When John retired from the Air National Guard in Sergeant Bluff, they retired to Lake Okoboji. Before her retirement, Jane was a beautician, hotel front desk manager, Electrolux receptionist and worked at numerous gift shops near Arnolds Park.
Jane was thrifty, thoughtful, generous and genuine. She had a strong work ethic. She was sociable, loved music, and loved sports: hockey, Gonzaga and Hawkeyes basketball and football. She loved her cats. She loved the lake. Of all these things and more, Jane was kind.
She had the opportunity to travel to Ireland along with many trips to Cabo San Lucas, fishing in the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific Ocean off the coasts Mexico, Washington, British Columbia and Alaska with her sister Kay. She looked forward to her twice annual gatherings with sisters Kay and Molly. Happy Hour at five with serious poker card games before wonderful meals. They loved and laughed.
Jane is survived by her sister Kay (Lee Peterson) of Yakima, Wash.; and sister Molly (Phil Eyen) of Colorado Springs, Colo.; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She loved all her extended family.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband John; her parents; brother Jerry Sullivan; along with aunts: Iris, Virginia, Bea and Jane.
Jane had so many friends and long-term neighbors. Her favorite times were with the girls Tuesday night outings. She’d always share her fresh baked goodies. A special thank you goes out to her neighbors and friends: Mark and Pam, Jim and Mary and close friend Mike Plueger for their kindness and support.
Jane will be dearly missed by all who knew her. In remembrance of sweet Jane, please donate to People for Pets in Spencer.
May the lord hold you in the palm of his hand till we meet again.
Turner Jenness Funeral Home of Spirit Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
