Gerald “Jay” B. Lohman, Jr., long-time resident of Rock Creek, died at his home on Oct. 30, 2025. He was 82.
Jay was born on Aug. 23, 1943, in Springfield, Ill. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He met and married Jane Warth on Dec. 10, 1966, while attending Northeast Missouri State University.
He and his family lived in Alta for 12 years from 1977-1989. He proudly served on the school board.
Jay worked the majority of his career with Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Company. He enjoyed birdwatching, reading and traveling. Above all, he cherished his four children and four grandchildren.
Jay is survived by his beloved wife Jane; four kids: Jerry, Gretchen, John and Jim; and four grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, Nov. 9, from 1-4 p.m. at the Grinnell Brewhouse, 923 Main St., Grinnell.
