Georgia Ann Preston, 82, of Owatonna, Minn., died Friday, Jan. 10, 2025, at Owatonna Hospital.
She was born Aug. 31, 1942, in Hampton, to George and DeElda (Hopes) Burns. Georgia grew up in Hampton and graduated from Hampton High School in 1960.
Georgia and Ronald were united in marriage on Dec. 29, 1961, in the Presbyterian Church in Early. Beloved to one another for 63 years. They were blessed in this union with four children: Jordan, Jeff, Jeanie and Julie.
Georgia was an avid reader, keeping her local library in business, making sure they were on top of the latest best-sellers. She was a seamstress, crafter, decorator at heart. Gifted with so much creativity.
Left to cherish Georgia’s memory includes her husband, Ronald Preston of Owatonna, Minn.; children: Jordan Preston of Owatonna, Minn.; Jeff and (Keri) Preston of Ellsworth, Wis.; Jeanie and (Mike) Cavanaugh of Storm Lake; Julie Smith of Council Bluffs (Wes Harrell); grandchildren: Amanda and (Casey) Buck of Denison; Lindsey and (Zach) Irlbeck of Breda; Paige and (Michael) Gansen of Chicago, Ill.; Dylan Cavanaugh and (Bailey Swain) of Ankeny; Summer and (Tyler) Perkovich of Arkansas, Wis.; and Jayden Preston of Ellsworth, Wis.; great-grandchildren: Chase Buck; Charlotte and Theo Irlbeck; and Oakley Perkovich.
She was preceded in death by her parents: mother DeElda (Hopes) Burns; father George Burns; and stepmother Marie Burns.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
