Gary Lee Nepple, 78, of Storm Lake died April 9, 2025, at Methodist Manor Retirement Community in Storm Lake.
Funeral services will take place Saturday, April 12, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake. Burial will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Meals on Wheels. Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
Gary Lee Nepple was born Dec. 23, 1946, to Herbert and Cecelia (Irlmeier) Nepple in Carroll, where he was welcomed home by two brothers, Jim and Kenny. He attended school in Vail before attending Kuemper High School in Carroll, and graduated in 1965.
Gary was united in marriage to Beverly Cosens. They had four children: Julie, Dawn, Brian and Amy.
They farmed with his dad before moving to Harlan to farm and raise livestock. Eventually Gary took up electrical work. He owned and operated Nepple Electric for many years until his retirement in 2017.
Gary was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. He was active in Storm Lake Gun Club, Pheasants Forever and was an avid hunter and fisherman. In his free time, Gary enjoyed boating and playing euchre. You could find him cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes. More than anything, Gary treasured time with his family, especially family vacations in Florida. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Left to cherish Gary’s memory include Bev Nepple of Storm Lake; children: Julie (Fred) Kurt of North Liberty; Dawn (Mark) ONeill of Hinton; Brian (Tammy) Nepple of Alta; Amy (Mike) Julius of Williamsburg; brothers, Jim Nepple and Kenny (Lisa) Nepple; grandchildren: Maddison (Chris) Beck, Mitchell (Yzabella) Kurt, Alexis (Seth) Gutz, Erin (Declan) Doyle, Hailey Nepple, Molly ONeill (fiancé Trevor Finnegan), Kobe Julius, Jessie Julius and Jack ONeill; great-grandchildren: Tillman Gutz, Ryan Beck, Parker Gutz, Haisley Beck, Bodie Beck and Baylor Gutz; extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Cecelia Nepple; sister-in-law Jean Nepple; niece Carrie Strause; and nephew Adam Nepple.
