Donald Caboth

Funeral services for Donald C. Caboth, 93, of Alta will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2024, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Alta, with Pastor Bradley Ketcham officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the service time at the church. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, rural Alta. Redig Funeral Home in Aurelia is in charge of arrangements.

Donald Christian Caboth was born Sept. 6, 1931, at Galva, the son of Christian and Etta (Suling) Caboth. He attended school there and graduated from Alta High School. On June 1, 1952, Donald married Sally Joan Marie Hetrick at the Presbyterian Church in Alta.  Don entered the U.S. Army on Feb. 3, 1953, where he obtained the rank of Corporal and was honorably discharged Feb. 2, 1955.

Don was a farmer who enjoyed fishing, woodworking, camping and traveling. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Alta and  Alta American Legion Post.

Don died Monday, Dec. 2, 2024, at his home in Alta.

Preceding Don in death were his parents; wife Sally on Dec. 13, 2022; daughter Donelle Olsen; one brother, Milton Caboth; two sisters-in-law, Jane and husband Lionel Breyfogle and Susan and husband Arliss Friedrich; and one brother-in-law, Orie and wife Vernetta Hetrick, Jr.

Survivors include his daughter Roxane and husband Jim Dutler of Galva; son David Caboth of Alta; and son-in-law Terry Olsen of Sioux City. Also surviving are five grandchildren: Stephenie and husband Nick Engle, Chad and wife Keely Dutler, Eric and wife Stephanie Dutler, Benjamin and wife Stephanie Olsen and Kimberly and husband Kyle Zellmer; 12 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Darlene Caboth of Alta; and nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
