Dennis Jon Andersen, 64, of West Des Moines passed away at home on Feb. 16, 2025.
He was born on June 29, 1960, in Storm Lake, to William and Vivian Andersen.
Dennis was immensely proud of his roots. He cherished memories of playing golf and tennis and was honored to participate in the first three RAGBRAI events. After leaving Storm Lake, he attended the University of Northern Iowa, where he earned his degree. He dedicated 20 years of his career as a purchasing manager, demonstrating unwavering commitment and integrity.
A devoted father and passionate volunteer, Dennis was known for his generosity—always willing to lend a helping hand. His deep faith led him to become an active member of Lutheran Church of Hope in his later years. His kindness, warmth and selfless nature touched many lives, and he will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.
Dennis is survived by his beloved sons, Ben (Kyla) and Luke Anderson; his siblings: Deb (Gary), Julie (Tom) and Jim (Sally).
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Vivian; and his sister Kathy.
A private ceremony will be held with close family at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Mindspring Mental Health Alliance or NAMI Iowa in Dennis's memory.
Though he may be gone, his legacy lives on through the countless lives he impacted. In his honor, we invite you to listen to his favorite band, The Who.
"If I could leave you with one lesson, it would be to help others. Be a participant, not just a spectator. Pay it forward, and in the end, it will come back to you a thousand times over."
