Christy was born March 11, 1975, to Richard and Janet (Eckrich) Schnoebelen in Burlington. She was raised in Burlington, where she attended school and graduated from Burlington High School in 1993. She went on to attend the University of Iowa. In February of 1999, Christy earned her bachelor’s degree simultaneously with her doctorate in chiropractic from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport. While in college, she met the love of her life, Dan Heitman.
On Aug. 29, 1998, Christy and Dan were united in marriage. Being “mom” was her greatest love and she was blessed with three children: Emily, Jacob and John.
Christy touched many lives through her work as a chiropractor. In December of 1998, she and Dan opened Atlas Chiropractic in Storm Lake. They also taught a marriage preparation class together. In her free time, Christy loved the outdoors. She looked forward to trips with her friend, Courtney. These trips oftentimes included kayaking, ziplining and stopping at breweries. She also loved visiting Nashville, Tenn., with a highlight being her last trip for her 50th birthday. More than anything, Christy loved time with her family and friends, especially boating and camping.
Left to cherish Christy’s memory include her beloved husband Dr. Daniel Heitman; parents, Richard and Janet Schnoebelen of Burlington; children: Emily (Zach) Roling, Jacob Heitman and John Heitman; grandson Cameron Roling; sister Tamera (Brad) Stewart of Riverside; nephews, Bennett (Anna) Stewart and Owen (Alyssa) Stewart; great-nieces and nephews, extended family and many friends.
