A Pulitzer Prize-winning newspaper
Catherine Ruth (Karr) Schoon of Pelham, N.H., passed into the Lord's domain peacefully on Jan. 3, 2025, at the age 92.
Catherine was born in Calhoun County, near Fonda, on Aug. 4, 1932, the third child of Charles A Karr and Ruth (Hout) Karr.
She married Richard George Schoon in the Congregational Church, Fonda, on Aug. 3, 1952.
She will be deeply missed by her son, Richard Jon Schoon (Patricia) of Belvidere Vt.; daughter Stephanie Catherine Powers (Stephen Dehney) of Dracut, Mass.; her five grandchildren: David Schoon (Kate) of Stow, Mas.; Michael Schoon of Carlsbad, N.M.; Amy Schoon Listenik (Tyler) of Cambridge, Vt.; Jennifer Powers (Keith Byette) of Amherst, N.H.; and Aaron Powers (Sabina) of Merrimack, N.H.; her eight great-grandchildren: Victoria Powers, Greyson Lydon, Dante Daprato, Murphy Schoon, Maisie Schoon, Willow Listenik and Everly Listenik.
She was preceded in death by two children, David William and Brenda Ruth, who both died in early infancy; her parents; great-grandchild Jaxon Byette; and her brothers, Dr. Charles H. Karr and Dr. Robert A. Karr.
Her funeral services and interment were held privately.
