Catherine Naberhaus, 86, of Glendale, Ariz., died April 26, 2025, at Thunder Bird Assisted Living in Glendale.
Funeral mass will take place Monday, May 5, at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Holstein. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Schaller. Visitation will be held Sunday, May 4, from 5-7 p.m. followed by Rosary at 7 p.m. at Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Schaller.
Catherine Rae Kotz was born March 2, 1939, to John and Mary (Hanrahan) Kotz in Ida Grove. She attended school at Sacred Heart Catholic School in Early. In 1957, Catherine graduated from Schaller High School.
On July 21, 1962, Catherine was united in marriage to George Frank Naberhaus at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Schaller. To this union, five children were born: Marcia, Mary Jo, Ann, Connie and Melissa.
Catherine touched many lives while she worked as a hairdresser until her retirement in 2019.
She was a devoted Catholic throughout her life, assisting at mass by reading and bringing communion to shut-ins. She was a member of Catholic Daughters of America, St. Joseph’s Rosary Society and Red Hat Society. Dancing brought Catherine great joy. She was known for her freshly baked goods and fun conversations with friends over coffee. She and George shared many trips together. A treasured memory was her trip to Ireland where she made sure to kiss the Blarney Stone. Catherine will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Left to cherish Catherine’s memory include her spouse George Frances Naberhaus of Glendale, Ariz.; children: Marcia Naberhaus of Sioux City; Mary Jo Naberhaus (Tammy Roman) of Rochester, N.Y.; Ann (Tom) Murphy of Glendale, Ariz.; Melissa (Isaac) Daniels of Glendale, Ariz.; sister Patricia (Charles) Ryherd of Alta; grandchildren: Ruth (Ryan) Witt of Newell; Alexis (Antoine) Oates of Glendale, Ariz.; Dylan (Chase) Murphy of Chandler, Ariz.; Caitlan (Michael) Zimmerling of Wamego, Kan.; Jason (Sara) Mason of Glendale, Ariz.; Andrea Williams of Salt Lake City, Utah; great-grandchildren: Carsen Witt, Austin Witt, Emme Jo Witt, Olivia Oates, Austin Oates, Meyer Murphy, Archer Murphy, Hollis Murphy, Nico Zimmerling, Jessamine Zimmerling; extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by Connie (James) Mason of Glendale, Ariz.; John (Zeta) Kotz of Kiron; and Eugene (Joan) Kotz of Boyer.
