Carol Hansen, 93, of Sac City passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2025, at MercyOne Siouxland Medical Center in Sioux City.
Carol Jeanette Kladstrup was born on Nov. 12, 1931, to parents Peter and Henrietta (Madsen) Kladstrup in Newell. She received her education and graduated from Newell High School in 1949. Carol was a life-long member of Nain Lutheran Church in Newell.
Carol married Gale Hansen in June 1952. Three children were born to this union: Mary, Sharon and Raymond. She attended Buena Vista College in Storm Lake and became a dedicated elementary teacher. She shared her love of music with many and started giving piano lessons at age 16, mentoring hundreds of youth in Sac and Buena Vista counties. Carol served as the organist at her church beginning at age 12 up until the week preceding her death. She also taught Sunday School for many years. Carol was actively involved in the family farm operation until they retired and moved to Sac City. She will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.
Mourning her passing are daughter Sharon (Chuck) Rezek of Worthington, Minn.; son Raymond (Jill) Hansen of Churdan; son-in-law Fred Anderson (Barb) of Norfolk, Neb.; grandchildren: Shane (Stacie) Anderson, Casey (Sarah) Anderson, Becky (Jason) Toso, Sara (Brent) Johnson, Joe Rezek (fiancée Margaret Pendleton), Jennie (Paul) Savits, Emily (Pri) Rebollozo, Kevin (Karla) Hansen, Gyena Hansen and Sveta (Tarron) Streigle; 21 great-grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; six step great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Norma Johnson of Storm Lake; brother-in-law Darvin Saddoris of Carroll; many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband Gale Hansen; daughter Mary Anderson; parents, Peter and Henrietta Kladstrup; parents-in-law, Joe and Geneva Hansen; brothers: Norman (Virginia) Kladstrup, Arlo (Barbara) Kladstrup and Donald (Ruth) Kladstrup; sister Ruth Crawford Bates (Art Crawford and Ed Bates); sister-in-law JoAnn Saddoris; and brother-in-law Delbert Johnson.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 24, at Nain Lutheran Church in Newell, with visitation from 9-11 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Newell Cemetery. Farber & Otteman Funeral Home of Sac City has been entrusted to care for Carol and her family.
