Saturday, April 12, is the annual Egg Hunt in the Park at Buena Vista County Park. Join conservation staff to learn about animals that lay eggs and meet some of the education animals. The program will start at 2 p.m. followed by the egg hunt. Both will take place in the South Shelter area at Buena Vista County Conservation Park, 377 440th St., Peterson.
Bring your own basket, sack, whatever you would like to collect your eggs. The eggs contain candy and other prizes! The program is open to all ages but the egg hunt is limited to children under the age of 12.
This program is free of charge but reservations are required. Please RSVP to the conservation office by Thursday, April 10, at 4 p.m. by calling 712-295-7985.
Spring is the perfect time to create your own indoor mini-garden. Naturalist Katie Struss will help you up-cycle or recycle an old vase, pot or terrarium into a living succulent garden. Join Struss at the Gabrielson Shelter House on Thursday, April 17, at 7 p.m. with your own container to receive a lesson in trendy succulent gardening.
You will receive the specialty potting soil needed for succulents, decorations and three plants. The cost for the class is $10 to help cover the cost of supplies. Please bring your own container.
Class size is limited, so make your reservation as soon as possible. Reservations will close on Tuesday, April 15, at 4 p.m. To register, call 712-295-7985 by 4 p.m. Gabrielson Park/ Gustafson Lake is located south of Sioux Rapids on Highway 71.
