If you are between the ages of 6-15 and enjoy fishing, come out to Gustafson Lake – Gabrielson Park (1322 440th St., Sioux Rapids) on Saturday, June 7, for the annual Buena Vista County Conservation fishing derby. There will be two age divisions: 6-10 years of age and 11-15. First and second place prizes will be awarded for both age divisions for the heaviest single fish and for the heaviest stringer of three fish caught that day.
The fishing contest will begin at 9 a.m. and run until 11 a.m. Please be there before 9 a.m. to sign in. Participants ages 6-10 must be accompanied by an adult.

Naturalist Lunch Box is held at 12 p.m. on select Fridays in the summer at Storm Lake Marina. Pack a lunch and join the fun!
Naturalist Lunch Box is designed for all ages. The naturalist will present a short program on a selected topic and have hands-on activities for younger audience members.
Friday, June 13, at noon will be the next Naturalist Lunchbox program of the summer. The topic for this week is dragonflies and damselflies. Join us to learn all about these amazing insects.
Storm Lake Marina is located at 207 W. Marina Road, Storm Lake. Register by June 11 at 4 p.m. by calling 712-295-7985. This program can be canceled due to inclement weather or lack of participants.
If you are looking for free entertainment for the kids, the naturalist has you covered. Come out to Gabrielson Park between 1- 3 p.m. on Tuesday, June 17, for an afternoon of fun activities. The naturalist will be on sight with all the supplies you need to go fishing as well as different activities and games to play.
They will have supplies for a make and take-home craft as well as snacks. Stop by for a bit or stay for the whole two hours. These activities are free of charge and designed for children ages 2 to 12. We ask that a parent or guardian stays with the child(ren).
