Dutch Oven Cooking 101 is back for Summer 2025. The first class will be taught Friday, May 23, at 5:30 p.m. at the South Shelter Area of Buena Vista County Conservation Park. Buena Vista County Naturalist Katie Struss will present the basics of Dutch oven cooking, including ovens, supplies, recipes and more.
There will be no need to plan supper that night. The meal for the evening will be: lasagna, cheesy bread and dessert. This event is free of charge.
Registration is required for this program by Tuesday, May 20, at 4 p.m. To RSVP contact the conservation office at 712-295-7985.
The South Shelter Area of Buena Vista County Conservation Park is located at 377 440th St., Peterson.
This program may be cancelled due to inclement weather or lack of participants.
Nature Sprouts is for children ages 2-5 years. It will be held once a month, May through October at the Storm Lake Marina. Each month will be a new theme and we will have story, crafts, snacks and hands-on activities to fit the theme.
The first Nature Sprouts of the summer will be on Tuesday, May 27, at 10 a.m. Meet at the Storm Lake Marina patio. Storm Lake Marina is located at 207 West Marina Road. The theme for May is owls.
Nature Sprouts is free of charge, however, registration is required. To register, call the conservation office at 712-295-7985 by Friday, May 23, at 4 p.m.
