Betty Lou Spindler, 94, of Los Angeles, Calif., passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2024, at her home.

Betty was born in Schaller to Henry and Anna Spindler on July 21, 1930. After graduating high school, she attended Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, where she earned her teaching certificate.

In the mid 1950s after her father’s death, she made her way to Los Angeles with her mother and sisters. She embraced Los Angeles, quickly making it her home. She also continued her teaching career in Redondo Beach, Calif., for over 35 years, teaching first grade.

Betty was a selfless and devoted sister, caring for her disabled sisters, Mary Rose and Joan. She was a special aunt to all of her 11 nieces and nephews, taking them on beach and Disneyland trips. Betty will forever have a special place in their hearts and will never be forgotten.

She lived life to the fullest, she loved dancing to big band music, singing, traveling with friends and family. She loved when childhood friends visited, and was happy to show them around Los Angeles. One of Betty’s lifelong wishes was that she care for her disabled sisters until their passing. God granted Betty that wish, she outlived both of her disabled sisters. A true testament to the caring woman Betty was. She created a beautiful home and life for them to enjoy. She possessed the gift of endless patience, and led her life with great dignity and style. Always looking at the positive side of life.

Betty was buried Dec. 11, in Los Angeles, at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery.

She was preceded in death by both her parents; brother William; sisters: Mary Rose, Joan and Dorothy; and her nephew Jimmy.
