Barbara Movall

Barbara Jean Movall, 91, of Storm Lake died Feb. 19, 2025, at Methodist Manor in Storm Lake.

Funeral services will take place Monday, Feb. 24, at 10:30 a.m. with visitation at 9:30 a.m. prior to the service at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Storm Lake. Burial will be in Storm Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday, Feb. 23, from 4-6 p.m. at Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm lake. Memorials may be directed to St. Mark Lutheran Church in Storm Lake, Lutheran Services of Iowa and the BVRMC Foundation.

Barbara was born Aug. 12, 1933, to Leslie and Esther (Berkler) Myers in Sulphur Springs. She was baptized Oct. 21, 1933, and confirmed July 30, 1944. Barbara was later a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Storm Lake. She attended school at Providence Consolidated School, graduating in 1951. After high school, Barb graduated in 1954 from St. Mary’s School of Nursing where she received her RN. She touched the lives of many people throughout her adulthood. She and Ray retired from farming in 1993.

On Dec. 17, 1955, Barbara was united in marriage to Raymond Movall at the Methodist Church in Storm Lake. To this union three children were born: Julie, Jean and Paul.

Barbara was a member of St. Mark’s Women and Naomi Circle. She enjoyed playing cards and took part in bridge clubs and various card clubs. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, Friendly Neighbor Club and 2 to 4 Club. Barbara also enjoyed volunteering with 4-H. In her free time, Barbara loved traveling. She explored many places including Ireland, Norway, Sweden, Spain, Portugal, Morocco, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Alaska and Hawaii. Each year, Barbara looked forward to family week at Lake Okoboji. More than anything, she treasured time with her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Left to cherish Barbara’s memory include her children: Julie (Dan) Sievers of Storm Lake; Jean (Bob) Buckingham of Waverly; Paul (Julie) Movall of Rochester, Minn.; grandchildren: Megan (Brian Hiester) Buckingham, Adam (Teresa) Sievers, Lyndi (Andrew) Buckingham-Schutt, Eric (Brittany) Sievers, Christopher (Stephanie) Buckingham, Michael (Samantha) Movall, Brandon (Ashley) Movall and Ryan (fiancé Sydney Barlow) Movall; great-grandchildren: Benjamin Hiester Buckingham; Clara and Alexander Sievers; Kai and Mara Schutt; Theo and Sophia Buckingham; extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Esther (Berkler) Myers; husband Raymond Movall; brother Donald (Joan) Myers; Ray’s siblings and spouses; and great-granddaughter Etta Edith Schutt.
