Alta-Aurelia High School presents ‘Finding Corey Taylor’

Posted

Alta-Aurelia High School is proud to present their spring play, “Finding Corey Taylor” by Tracy Wells, presented by special arrangement with Stage Partners. Performances are March 14 and 15 at 7 p.m. and March 16 at 2 p.m. at the Roxy Theatre in Alta. Tickets are $5 each and are available at the door.

The show is led by Emma Wilkinson and Nia Hamilton sharing the role of Corey Taylor, and Jenna Galvin and Lainey Buckendahl sharing the role of Corey’s best friend Reese. The cast also includes Kaylee Mattson, Caden Rydstrom, Shaela Graham, Delilah Boelter, Bryndalyn Brock, Meleigha Buckendahl, Jamie Buddenhagen, Naveyah Mason and Izaak Poller, who together bring 35 other characters to life on the Roxy stage.

Corey is lost. It’s the day of her high school graduation and her unsigned yearbook confirms what she already suspects…no one knows who Corey Taylor is. And how can she blame them when Corey hardly knows herself? When her best friend, Reese, suggests a road trip across America to meet other people named Corey Taylor, Corey reluctantly agrees, and embarks on the trip of a lifetime, hoping that in finding other Corey Taylors, she’ll also find herself. Each scene takes Corey to a new part of America, from a rustic home in Possum Trot, Ky., to backstage at a cabaret theater in New York City, to the home of a reclusive author in Lebanon, Kan., to a bohemian colony in Austin, Texas, to a wide open ranch in Sioux Falls, S.D. But it’s a surprise last minute stop that puts everything in focus for Corey, and she learns that finding herself is a journey, not a destination.
