Storm Lake United will host a Business After Hours on Tuesday, March 7 at 5 p.m. at King’s Pointe Waterpark Resort to unveil the theme for Storm Lake’s 2023 overnight RAGBRAI stop.

The public is invited to enjoy hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar before a short 5:15 p.m. presentation of Storm Lake’s theme and logo to be featured on merchandise, social media and more. Information on volunteering and fundraising will also be shared at this time. Storm Lake’s RAGBRAI store will launch t-shirt sales with more gear available soon.

Storm Lake will mark the first overnight stop for RAGBRAI 2023. The ride’s 50th anniversary — or RAGBRAI L in Roman numerals — will celebrate “One L of a Ride – Since 1973” on July 22-29.

Riders will cycle from Sioux City to Storm Lake throughout the day on Sunday, July 23 and stay overnight before departing for Carroll the following morning. The remaining overnight stops are: Ames, Des Moines, Tama-Toledo, Coralville, and Davenport. RAGBRAI will reveal its complete route across Iowa on March 13.

Plans to welcome an anticipated 25,000 riders are taking shape. The Storm Lake RAGBRAI committee, led by executive director Carl Turner, is currently working on housing opportunities, fundraising, a website, merchandise, signing up volunteers, entertainment and more.
