Wes Bunjes quits Alta City Council

Alta City Councilman Wes Bunjes resigned from the city council last Wednesday after a spat surrounding a stop sign next to his house.

Bunjes reportedly expressed consternation over the removal of a stop sign at Fourth and Lake Street in Alta, which is just north of his house. Bunjes couldn’t be reached for comment last week.

“He didn’t get his way, I guess,” said Councilman Tom Lane, who voted with Bunjes to keep the stop sign. “The reason you’re in city government isn’t to win all the time, it’s to make change that overarches. I think resigning like this is just silly.”

Mayor Kevin Walsh added Bunjes referenced the growing demands of his family life and landscaping business. Walsh plans to bring forward Bunjes’ replacement at the next city council meeting.
