Two men were arrested at the Rembrandt Bar and Grill on June 12 at 12:15 a.m. for third-degree burglary.
Jairo Andrew Ocampo-Gonzalez, 18, of Rembrandt, and Braeden Jay Bailey, 18, also of Rembrandt, were brought into the Buena Vista County Jail after police found stolen liquor bottles and other items from the bar in their homes at 113 N. Broadway Street and 109 North 1st Ave. in Rembrandt.
Additional investigation has led to additional burglary charges being filed against both men for another burglary in Rembrandt, which occurred several weeks ago at Gibbons Seeds.

Police find drugs in traffic stop
Two Storm Lake men were arrested Friday evening after police found marijuana in the vehicle following a traffic stop.
Dalton Goodman, 18, of Storm Lake, was pulled over on Friday in the 1800 block of Lake Ave. for a traffic offense. Police alleged that Goodman was driving with a suspended license.

Johnson’s pickup crosses meridian, rolls down bank
Steve Johnson, 50, of Aurelia, was killed in a rollover accident Monday morning near Richfield, Utah.
According to the Utah Highway Patrol, Johnson was traveling westbound in a 2010 Ford F-250 truck near milepost 82 on Interstate 70 at 8 a.m. when the vehicle drifted into the median as it approached a left-hand curve.

Four rides stolen over 3 counties
A Storm Lake man was charged this week after he allegedly stole four vehicles across three counties a couple weeks ago.
James Thompson, 49, was arrested on May 31 by Pocahontas County sheriff’s deputies after he was discovered driving a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer that was reported stolen from an Ida Grove car dealership.

Third offense requires a minimum of 30 days in jail, suspension of license
Twelve jurors voted unanimously Tuesday that Reas Wade Hoops, 41, of Storm Lake, was guilty of operating while intoxicated (third offense), a Class D felony, following a one-day trial in Buena Vista County.

Another meeting to be held June 18
Laurens-Marathon is in talks with the Pocahontas school district to combine athletic programs for the 2014-2015 school year.
In January the Laurens-Marathon school board started meeting with three neighboring districts because of substantially low athletic numbers in Laurens-Marathon athletic programs.
