Bruce Carlson

Bruce Carlson, 49, of Storm Lake died on Monday, Oct. 1, 2018 in Storm Lake.

A Time of Gathering was held Saturday, Oct. 6, at Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Burial will be at a later date.

Bruce Scott Carlson, the son of Dennis and Cathie (Goertz) Carlson, was born on Nov. 28, 1968 in Sioux City. In 1971, Bruce was baptized at Arion Congregational Church. 

Bruce attended grade school at Dow City-Arion where he graduated high school in 1987.

On Oct. 8, 1994, Bruce was united in marriage to Tracy (Stauber) Carlson at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake. The couple was blessed with three children: Amanda Sue, Hanna Lynn and Nathan Jeffrey. 

Bruce was active in his community through being a city councilman in Storm Lake since 2016. 

In his free time, he enjoyed grilling, following the Hawkeyes and Bears, attending sporting events and coaching football and track. He was also known as a “Beer Enthusiast.”

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Tracy Carlson of Storm Lake; children: Amanda (Aaron) Adams of Lincoln, Neb.; and Nathan Carlson of Storm Lake; father and mother, Dennis and Cathie Carlson; brothers: Dave (Alicia) Carlson of Sioux Falls, S.D.; and Dan (George Jacobson) Carlson of Sioux Falls, S.D.; sister, Bobbie Jo (Carlson) Backer of Norwalk; brother and sister-in-law, Tony (Amy) Stauber of Fonda; father and mother-in-law, Gerald (Linda) Stauber of Newell; and several nieces and nephews. 

Bruce was preceded in death by his daughter, Hanna Carlson; grandparents: Nathan and Ella Mae Carlson; Jeff and Catherine Goertz; godfather/uncle, Donald Carlson; and other aunts and uncles.
