Jody Hocking

Jody Hocking, 57, of Storm Lake died on Monday, Sept. 3, 2018 at Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.

A Time of Gathering was held on Saturday, Sept. 8, at Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake.  

Jody John Hocking, the son of Ralph and Roma (Fahan) Hocking, was born on March 25, 1961 in Cherokee.

In his youth, Jody attended grade school in Cherokee. He later would graduate from Washington High School in Cherokee. After high school, Jody furthered his education at the Spencer School of Business where he earned an associate degree. 

Jody was a member of the Storm Lake Fire Department for 20 years. In his free time, he enjoyed DJ’ing, Hawkeye football and NASCAR. Jody was also a part of bowling and golfing leagues.

Those left to cherish his memory include his significant other, Amy Badertscher; children: Justin (April Connolly) Hocking of Storm Lake; Jaimie Hocking of Perry; step-children: Cara (Tyler) Pedersen of Alta; Jarren (Jessica) Badertscher of Storm Lake; brother, John Hocking of Livermore; sister, Judith Hocking of Paullina; and grandchildren: Mary and Kyler Connolly of Alta; Parker, Brock, and Addison Pedersen of Alta.

Jody was preceded in death by his sisters, Jacque Hocking Puhrmann and Barbara Hocking; and parents, Ralph “Short” and Roma (Fahan) Hocking.
