Chris Meyer

Chris Meyer, 41, of Lakeside died on Sunday, April 1, 2018 at his home.

Memorial services were held Friday, April 6, at Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Burial was in Grandview Cemetery in Quimby. A memorial fund has been established.  

Christopher Ryan Meyer was born May 6, 1976 in Wakefield, Neb. the son of Donald L. and Terra (Sheehan) Meyer.

As an infant, Chris was baptized at St. John Lutheran Church in Pender, Neb. and later confirmed at Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Quimby.

Growing up, Chris attended grade school at Willow in Washta and graduated from River Valley High School in Correctionville in 1994.

On March 24, 1998, Chris enlisted in the United States Coast Guard where obtained a master’s degree. He served his country until his honorable discharge on May 28, 2014.

Chris was a member of the American Legion in Quimby. He was the proud owner and operator of Midwest Industrial Metal Detector Services.

In his spare time, Chris enjoyed being outdoors, especially golfing, boating or fishing. He was known for enjoying time away and traveling at his own leisure. Family and friends were very important to Chris and he treasured the time he was able to spend with them. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his mother, Terra (Darold) Sievers of Lakeside; brothers: Brad (Natalia) Meyer of Lincoln, Neb.; Kenley (Lizzy) Meyer of Sioux City; Justin (Jayme) Deal of Sully; Shawn (Laci) Deal of Rockwell City; step-mother, Linda Meyer of Quimby; step-sister, Ashley Meyer of Cherokee; grandparents: Ed and Jane Hinds of Walnut Creek, Calif.; grandmother, Bernice Hogan of Wayne, Neb.; many aunts; uncles; cousins; extended family and many friends.

Chris was preceded in death by his father, Donald Meyer and his grandfather, DeLloyd Meyer.
