Pilcrow Book Grant Open House held at the Newell Public Library

Newell Library director Sherri Peterson, left, and assistant/children's

librarian Amber Largent show a few of the books donated.

An open house was held on Jan. 8 to present to the public all of the books received through a children’s book grant given by the Pilcrow Foundation. We received 81 books from this two to one match grant. Donors and Library Friends raised $400  toward the matching grant. In return we were given $1,200  worth of children’s and junior’s hardcover books in both fiction and non-fiction. Also included were 24 math and science books provided by a generous donation from Mr. Hal Berenson and Mrs. Laura Ackerman. The library is able to apply for this grant every three years.
