Lun Thi Thong

Lun Thi Thong, 85, of Lakeside, passed away on Friday, Dec. 29, 2017 in her home.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 6, at Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Burial was in Storm Lake Cemetery.

Lun Thi Thong was born Sept. 10, 1932 in Sonla, Vietnam, the daughter of Cheua Thongthi and Phouan Thongvan.

She grew up in Vietnam and married Sau Van Thong. Together, they were blessed with nine children: Vieng, Dawn, Suzzan, Thou, Xuyen, Hup, Seng, Heui and John.

In 1975, the family moved to the United States. They lived in Sac City, Spencer and eventually resided in Storm Lake.

Lun had a talent and passion for sewing. She loved creating many traditional blankets for family members. She also liked to watch English and Thai soap operas. Most of all, Lun loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. 

Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Vieng Thong of Plymouth, Minn.; Dawn (Vic) James of Storm Lake; Suzzan (Boun) Khounlo of Lakeside; Xuyen (Dave) Johnson of Andover, Minn.; Hup (Tran) Thong of Jordan, Minn.; Seng (Jody) Thong of Goldsboro, N.C.; Heui (Dave) Parsons of Hanover, Minn.; John Thong of Omaha, Neb.; 22 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; brother, Kia Thong of Vietnam; sister, La Quang of Des Moines; extended family and friends.

Lun was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Sau Van Thong; son, Thou Van Thong; and three brothers.
