Darlene Moore

Darlene A. Moore, 89, of Storm Lake died Sunday, Sept. 3, 2017 at her home in Storm Lake.

Funeral Mass was held Thursday, Sept. 7, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake. Burial followed in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Storm Lake. Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake was in charge of the arrangements. 

Darlene A. Reiling was born July 26, 1928 to Theo and Anna (Lamberty) Reiling in Carroll County, on a farm at Mount Carmel.

The family moved to the Carroll area in 1935.

Darlene worked at Omaha Cold Storage until her marriage to Albert Roy Moore from Glidden on Jan. 15, 1947. They were married at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Maple River, with Fr. Mattes officiating.

The couple lived in Glidden until 1952, when they moved to Storm Lake.

Darlene worked at Vilas Turkey Processing for three years. In 1967, she started working at Roy’s Auto Service until 1992, also while working for the hot lunch program at St. Mary’s from 1986 – 1992.

Darlene was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church where she served as usher and money counter for many years. She volunteered for many things within the church and was a member of St. Mary’s Guild and served as chair lady many times. She also was a Eucharistic Minister to residents at BV Manor for eight years.

Darlene liked to travel, and made many trips after her retirement in 1992. She loved tailoring suits for Roy, and sewed many wedding and prom dresses. She also upholstered many pieces of furniture and did all of her own painting, wall papering and home decorating.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters: Shirley (Tom) Boje of Omaha, Neb.; Irene (Daniel) Jensen of Louisville, Neb.; Phyllis (Ron) Roelfs of Ankeny; Pat (David) Kastengren of Cherokee; Tracey (David) Plorins of Waukee; sons: Richard (Patti) Moore of Olathe, Kan.; Michael (Susan) Moore of Carroll; Ken (Sabrina) Moore of Cherokee; 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; brother, Don (Rosie) Reiling of Storm Lake; sister, Agnes (Ray) Pottebaum of Anita; brother-in-law, Ray Huegerich of Lake View; sisters-in-law, Jean Patrick and Juanita Gilroy; extended family and friends.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Albert Roy; infant brother, Ronald; brother, Ray (Bernadine) Reiling; and sisters, Rosemary Huegerich and Dorothy Dales Huegerich.
