Bea Huntington

Bea Huntington, 81, of Storm Lake, died Friday, Aug. 25, 2017 at Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake. 

Memorial services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 30, at 10:30 a.m. at United Methodist Church in Alta. Memorials may be made to United Methodist Church in Alta, Buena Vista Regional Medical Center Foundation, or the ALS Association of Iowa. Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Alta is in charge of the arrangements. 

Shirley Berniece Boswell was born Nov. 22, 1935 in Adams County, the daughter of Elza and Mabel (Scott) Boswell.  She was baptized in 1953 at Mt. Etna Methodist Church.

She attended school in Corning where she graduated from Corning High School in 1954.

On April 28, 1956, Bea was united in marriage to Glen Huntington at the Methodist Church in Corning. Together, they were blessed with four children: Debra, Kandra, Barbra and Tyler.

Bea was a member of United Methodist Church in Alta where she served as the United Methodist Women treasurer. She also belonged to P.E.O. Chapter GB in Alta where she served as treasurer.

Bea was an avid duplicate bridge card player. In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling, especially to national historic lodges throughout the United States. Bea also loved golfing and entertaining family and friends. She loved spending time with her family and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Glen Huntington of Storm Lake; children: Debra (Mark) Sherwood of Oklahoma City, Okla.; Kandra (John) Dickerson of Des Moines; Barbra (Kevin) Klein of Urbandale; Tyler (Linda) Huntington of Perry; grandchildren: Jennifer (Kyle) Gerber; Jeremy (Amy) Sherwood; Ryan Sherwood; Lindsey Dickerson; Kasandra Dickerson; Amber Anderson; Aaron (fiancé, Lisa McLain) Anderson; Dustin Klein; Kelsey Klein; Gabrielle, Brooke and Addison Huntington; great-grandchildren: McKenzie, Kaylie, Madison, Jaxon and Weston Gerber; Kinnick, Whittaker, Paxton and Tate Sherwood; Rayne and Canyon Kelso; brother, Clarence (Bobby) Boswell of Cumberland; sisters: Laura (Warren) Johnston of Bridgewater; Alice (John) Burchard of Omaha, Neb.; sister-in-law, Blondie Boswell of Greenfield; nieces; nephews; cousins; extended family and friends.

Bea was preceded in death by her parents, Elza and Mabel Boswell; and brothers, Albert (Tootsie) Boswell and Orval Boswell.
