Glen Scott, Sr.
Glen W. Scott, Sr., 87, of McDowell, Mo., passed away on Sunday, April 9, 2017, at Lacoba Homes in Monett, Mo.
Mr. Scott, son of Walter and Merle (Arthur) Scott, was born on March 28, 1930, in his family home in Buena Vista County. He served in the United States Navy from 1951 to 1954 during the Koren Conflict. On Nov. 15, 1956, he was united in marriage to Wilda Taggs in Brookfield, Mo. He was a farmer for most of his life in Iowa before moving to McDowell in 1970. Mr. Scott had a passion for horses and driving his mules. He was also well known for breaking, training and shoeing.
Mr. Scott was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Cassville and Monett American Legion Post #91. He was a great friend to many and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Wilda Scott, of McDowell; one son, Glen Scott, Jr., of Purdy; three daughters: Cynthia Strong, of Purdy; Mary Fenske and her husband Michael, of Purdy; and Marguerite Scott and her significant other Craig Lowe, of McDowell; five grandchildren: Darcy Scott, Mara Christensen and her husband Travis; Alex Hall and her husband Adrian; Glen Scott, III and his girlfriend Loryn Barclay; and Nathan Scott; one great-grandchild, Tegan Hall; one brother, George Scott, of Drakesfield; two sisters, Elinor Hagen, of Hollywood, Calif., and Evelyn Sandgren, of Topeka, Kan.; a very special family friend, Nick Mercer; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 12, at White Funeral Home and Crematory, with Pastor Bob Day officiating; burial followed with full military honors provided by the United States Navy and American Legion Post #91 at Corsicana Cemetery.
