PAC/L-M begins state title defense in record-breaking way

Indians make 20 threes in 99-27 win

Pocahontas Area/Laurens-Marathon didn’t waste any time in its start to defending a Class 3A state title.

The second-ranked Indians used a 43-6 first quarter and tied their own state record with 20 3-pointers to beat Clarion-Goldfield-Downs 99-27 in the first round of the regional tournament last Saturday at Pocahontas.

PAC/L-M, now 22-1, will play Roland-Story in a regional semifinal game today in Pocahontas.
